The Long Island Iced Tea has long been one of the The Long Island Iced Tea has long been one of the favourites of the masses considering the cocktail contains five different white spirits - vodka, gin, rum, triple sec, and tequila which are then topped with cola. Given its ingredients, who wouldn't want to get the most bang for their buck? And much like other cocktails, it too has an interesting history. One tale goes that during Prohibition in the 1920s, Old Man Bishop, a native of Tennesee, decided to combine vodka, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey, and maple syrup as a way to be resourceful and create a cocktail that could pass under the radar which he then called, "Old Man Bishop." Before long, others experimented with different versions and it eventually developed into the LIIT. Whether it's true or not, the LIIT remains a popular drink and we love making it! So come on down to Sandinista and get your hands on one!

It's time for another summer cocktail and this one It's time for another summer cocktail and this one's an evergreen classic - the Margarita! This tequila-based drink isn't just rich in nearly a century's worth of history, it's also rich in flavour with its refreshing citrusy taste that perfectly complements a salt rim. And given our penchant for tequila at Sandinista, we love making this cocktail! So come grab a Margarita and some delicious Mexican tapas to go with it and take advantage of our outside seating!

Summer is coming and with it, the need for a sprit Summer is coming and with it, the need for a spritzer! So why not get the popular Aperol Spritz down here with us? After all, it began in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 1800s with soldiers and those visiting Italy who found the Italian wines a tad too strong, so they "spritzed" it by adding water. Before long, the cocktail developed into the one we know and love now. What are you still waiting for? Beat the incoming heat with a chilled glass and revel in the joy.

For all you coffee lovers out there, the espresso For all you coffee lovers out there, the espresso martini may just be the perfect cocktail for you! Made with vodka, coffee liqueur and a shot of espresso, it's the wakeup call you need when you're ready to get the weekend started. And we need to thank mixologist Dick Bradsell, a bartender in the 1970s, for it.
The story goes that a model walked into his bar and asked him for a drink that would wake her up as well as give her a good time. So adding a shot of espresso with some vodka, the famous cocktail was born. But it wasn't until much more experiementation that Bradsell finally settled on the specifications for it and called it the espresso martini because of the v-shaped martini glass it was served in.
And now, firmly in the 21st century, there are multiple variations of it such as Salted Caramel Espresso Martini, Rum Espresso Martini, and Chocolate Espresso Martini. But if you want a little taste of that original history, pop on down to Sandinista and take advantage of our 2 for 15 offer to start off your night right.
